ABOUT

Callaghan Belle is a recording artist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and actor. Her first EP, Sovereign, took years of writing, producing, and recording in her parent’s basement in Detroit before she moved to Los Angeles to finish the process. “Feelings are my favorite,” she says, “I hope that shows in my music.” Her songs tell a story of growing up-sometimes we’re homesick, sometimes we’re out of control, sometimes we’re in love, sometimes we’re setting ourselves free. She finds that it’s important to accept being fragile and vulnerable to get you to a place of healing. This healing process is something she learned firsthand. A few weeks after moving to LA, Callaghan endured what she calls Angel Season in her family. Four immediate family members passed away, not including the death of her beloved dog and the heartbreaking end of her first serious relationship. She found it hard to find her voice that year but continued to write music for other artists, films, and national commercials. She even landed prominent album credits alongside the likes of Hall of Famer, Bob Seger who calls her the “real deal,” R&B artist, JoJo, and Grammy winner, Colbie Caillat.
“It feels like I’ve been working on my first album since I was in middle school,” she says. And this just might be true. With notebooks filled with songs from the time she was eight years old, a two-hour set list including “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin under her belt by age thirteen, and a record deal by age seventeen, she has been slowly but surely finding her place in the music industry. Her influences include The Beatles, Lana Del Rey, Kelly Clarkson, The Pretty Reckless, Dolly Parton, and her godmother, Anita Baker to name a few. This variety is in character with her unconventional acceptance into Columbia University’s prestigious School of General Studies as a political science major last year.
Callaghan is excited to share her songs with the world after years of being told to wait. “My music is all about telling your story and coming into your own power,” she says, “It’s just taken me a bit longer than I would’ve hoped.” No question, she’s ready now.
